<br /> 58-327 - "I am submitting the following letter from the Portsmouth Redevelopment and
<br />Housing Authority:
<br /> 'As proposed at the informal joint meeting betweeh the Council and the Authority Wednesday
<br />evening, October 15th, we are writing to you regarding ghe Lincolnsville Urban ~enewal project.
<br /> we are now in the final planning stage and our next step would be to obtain the services
<br />of a planning consultant. This consultant would work closely wit~ the City Council, Planning Commis~en, and
<br />Authority's staff in developing comprehensive plans for the reuses of the Lincolnsville area consonant with the
<br />best interest~ of the City.
<br /> We have been inf'ormed by the Urban Renewal Administration that final approval and execution
<br />of the project should be no later than May 1, 1959. To meet this deadline a~d in order and, in order that the
<br />Council may have sufficient time to reflect on and actively participate in basic planning decisions, and have a
<br />public hearing we should proceed without delay. It would be after the final plans have been completed and the
<br />public hearing has been held that the Council would officially decide whether or not to execute the plan. It is
<br />our recommendation that the Authority continue~ its planning activities in the Lincolnsville Area. The approval
<br />we are now asking is for the purpose of an expression from the Council of their desire to continue the necessary
