November 25th. 1958. <br /> <br />who may have become defaulters to the City, and the amounts in their hands unaccounted for, and all other things <br />necessary to exhibit the true financial condition of the City," <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith that the matter be referred to the City Manager and City Attorne~ <br />and if they deem it necessary that a conference of the Council be called, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 58-355 - Mr. Walker spoke recommending that Section 32-3 of the Code be amended to <br />read that all property within the City which is not zoned be zoned "A Single Family". <br /> <br />citizens, <br />mailing. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Weiseman that this matter be referred to the Planning Commission for <br />consideration, was adopted, without a dissenting vote. : <br /> <br /> 58-356 - Mr. Walker requested that a ~financial report of the City be sent to all <br /> to be mailed with the water bills, or in some other way which would not incur additional expense for <br /> <br />Notion of Mr. Bartlett that the matter be I nd re£erred to the City Manager, <br />58-357 - Mr. Baker presented the following resolution: <br /> <br />was adopted without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> "Wherea~ Section 16-14 of the Code of the City of Rortsmouth, Virginia, <br /> 1951, as amended, pro~ides only for a cash fare of twenty cents on intraurban <br /> buses operated in the City; and <br /> Whereas, Portsmouth Transit Company and numerous mercantile establish- <br />merits of the City are desirous of conducting a ninety-day test of an arrangement <br />Whereby tokens will be soId by the'T~ansit Company to any person, ~firm or corpora- <br />tion licensed to do a retail business in the City at the rate of fifteen cents.per <br />token in lots of not less than one hundred tokens; .and <br /> WHEREAS, such arrangement will encourage and promote patronage of Ports- <br />'mouth businesses and reduce the number of automobiles in the downtown area during <br />the Christmas season; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by ths Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that~Portsmouth Trausin Company is hereby.authorized to sell tokens to <br />any person, firm, or corporation licensed to do a retail business in said City at <br />the rate of fifteen cents per token in lots of.not less than one hundred tokens <br />such authorization to expire on February ~25, 1959." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Breedlove that rules be suspended to hear from Mr. James of the <br />Portsmouth Transit Company, was adopted. <br /> <br />Mr. Jamesspoke, explaining the proposed plan. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> t. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr.Weiseman, the resolutio~ was adopted without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 58-3~5~w~ Tke.~f~tl~wing ~rdi~a~ce,placed on ~irst re~din~ at last meeting was taken <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO ~MND SECTION 30-172 DF TEE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORT~0UT~, 1951~ SETTING <br />THE EOb-RS FOR ~N-FORCEMENT OF PAE~INGN_ETER REGULATIONS ON OFF~STEF~T PARKING LOTS" <br /> <br /> On motion of S tr.
