Weiseman not to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission to approve this application, was adopted, by the following vote: Ayes: Baker, Br~edlov~, Walker,Weiseman Nayes: Bartlett, Seward, Smith. 8. 19-59. Application of Willis W. Walden. Attorney Jas. A. Overton spoke. Motion of Mr. Breedlove not to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission to approve this application was adopted, by the following vote: Ayes: Baker, Breedlove, Walker, Weisemun Nays:. Bartlett, Beward, Smith The following communications fromthe City Manager were read: 59-136 - "Mr. A. A. Bangel has requested that he be heard, concerning the rejection of hz · bid for the purchase of City-owned property at the southwest corner of Chestnut and County Sts. It is in order that-he be heard from at this time." Mr. Bang~ spoke for his request. No action was taken. 59~137 '- On motion of Mr. Walker. the rules were suspended to hear from Mr. Jake Jacobsen, who spoke regarding the license tax on laundromats. The following also spoke: Miss Brown, Von Pearsall, R.G. Lowe, Jr., Mr s. Wilgard and Mr. Mitchell. The City Manager was requested to bring in more information on this matter and to include same in the notice for a meeting on Thursday, May 28th. - 59-138 - "I recommend that the sale of City property between Crawford St., Middle St., Glasgow Bt. and London St. be referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation concerning the sale of this property. This property was ~ 'f0~ier spur track ruhnin~ ih this block which the City acquired in the purchase of the Seaboard Waterfront property.~' Notion of Mr. Walker to concur zn the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, with- out dissenting.vote. 59-139 - "I recommend that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for sale a pprtion of the old Jeffrey Wilson property north of North Street and west of Broad Street subject to the following conditions: 1. To existing easements, restrictions and covenants of record. 2. To easements for existing drainage ditches. 3. To successful rezon~ng of the property of 'J' Heavy Industrial pr~or to closing of the sale. 4. To revert to the City upon the failure of the purchaser ~o construct on the site within sixty days not less than 15,000 square feet of floor space usable for industrial purposes." Motion of 'Mr. Breed~ove to suspend the rules to hear from interested persons, was adopted. The following spoke: Rev. U.G. Wilson Mr. Harris, retired mail carrier Attorney Jas. A. Overt on. Motion of Mr. Bartlett to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, without dissenting ~ote~ 59-140- "I recommend that the resolution ado~ed by the City Council on February 10th, 1959, concerning the acquisition of property of Emma Louise Dodd, be rescinded. This property is in connection wiIh the construction of the Lake Meade Dam." Motion of Mr. Bartlett to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, without dissenting vote. 59_141 :~':,, -~,' ...... - I reco~mmend that t. he follQwiug ordinance be placed on first reading. Motion of Mr. Walker that the following ordinance be placed on first reading was adopted, without dissenting vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO ~ROVIDE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAINPROPERTY IN NANSE~OND COUNTY, VIRGINIA, NECESSARY FOR USE BY THE CITY FOR WATERWORKS AND RELATED FACILITIES, PUI{SUANTTO CHAPTER 258 OF TIIEACTS OF ASSEMBLY OF 1958." 59-142 - "Since May 31st, 1959 is the last day for payment of licenses and this date falls
