REVOCATION OF PERMIT: Violation of any of the above conditions may <br />serve as grounds for revocation of the use permit by the City Council." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Pitts, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />01 - 297 - Adoption of an ordinance to modify Chapter 37 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth related to taxicab rates and fees. <br /> <br />The proposed changes will make the City's rates and fees more consistent with <br />neighboring cities and will provide incentives for increased business. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to modify Chapter 37 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth <br />to include the following. <br /> <br /> a. Increase the Certificate of Convenience application processing fee <br />from $15 to $20. <br /> b. Increase the taxicab driver permit application processing fee from <br />$15 to $20. <br /> <br /> d. <br />from .25 cents per 1/6 mile to .30 cents per 1/6 mile. <br /> e. <br /> f. <br />wrecker <br /> <br />Add a vehicle inspection fee of $40 and a re-inspection fee of $10. <br />Increase the taxicab rate for each additional one-sixth of a mile <br /> <br /> Increase the taxicab waiting time from $9 to $12 per hour. <br /> Add subsection authorizing an application processing fee of $20 to <br />list applicants. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The proposed changes will make Portsmouth's rates and fees competitive with <br />neighboring cities and will provide more incentives for taxi companies to expand their <br />businesses to the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The proposed fee increases/additions are estimated to generate $4,300 per year in <br />revenue. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 37 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 37-44(b), 37-73, 37-95, <br />37-132 AND 37-250(b) THEREOF PERTAINING TO ADMINISTRATIVE FEES <br />IMPOSED ON TAXICABS AND TOW TRUCKS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Pitts, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />01 - 298 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of $885,054 <br />Qualified Academy Bonds (QZABs). <br /> <br />This action is necessary in order for the City and Schools to apply for an <br />allocation by the State of interest free bonds for school construction. <br /> <br /> <br />
