October 23, 2001 <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts spoke on the "Rumble through the Tunnel" featured during Fleet <br />Week. <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst spoke on Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) <br />winning the Gold Award. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Griffin spoke on welcoming the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation <br />(FDIC) group at the Renaissance Hotel and complimented Bernadette L. Hogge on <br />her great assistance to the FDIC group. <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts spoke on the Freedom Schooner Amistad funding and his non- <br />support of funding. <br /> <br />01 - 290 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Iris Parrish, 808 Liston Lane, Member of Mayor's Commission on Aging, spoke on <br /> needs assessment for seniors. <br /> <br />2. Lucinda Pitts, 252 Dorset Avenue, spoke on Fairwood Homes eviction notices. <br /> <br />3. Mark A. Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, spoke on assistance for Fairwood <br /> Homes residents. <br /> <br />4. Jeffrey Sterling Freeman, 4739 Glenroie Avenue, Norfolk, spoke on the <br /> condemnation of property and the seven day notice to move. <br /> <br />5. Viet Vu, 7438 Major Avenue, Norfolk, spoke on the condemnation of property and <br /> the seven day notice to move. <br /> <br />6. LaToya Hancock, 979 Green Street, spoke on the condemnation of property and the <br /> seven day notice to move. <br /> <br />7. Jeanette Gilliam, 4125 Holley Cove Drive, Chesapeake, spoke on the condemnation <br /> of property and the seven day notice to move. <br /> <br />8. Donna Williams, 650 Frederick Boulevard, spoke on the condemnation of property <br /> and the seven day notice to move. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A)(3) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or <br />consider the following: <br /> <br /> - In addition, Council may discuss personnel matters, as permitted by <br />subsection 1. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
