<br />On motion of,Mr. Breedlove, the following resolution was adopted, without
<br />
<br /> "WHEREAS, the observance by the citizens of the City of Portsmouth, of
<br /> Memorial Day, May 30th, 1960, was enhanced and mode more significant
<br /> because of the ceremonies and parade arranged by the Central Memorial
<br /> Day Observance Committee, under the general chairmanship of ~r. J.
<br /> Herbert Simp~on; and
<br /> ~EREAE~ many local organizations and units o£ the Armed Forces
<br /> participated in the aforesaid observance, which the people of our C~ty
<br /> consider was the best in the history o~ such observ~r~e,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Oouncil of the City of Ports-
<br /> mouth, Virginia, that the appreciation of the citizens of this City for
<br /> the ceremonies and parade in observance of Memorial Day, May 30, 1960,
<br /> be hereby expressed and couveyed to.M~. J. Herbert Simpson, General
<br /> Chairman of the Central Memorial Day Observance Committee, ~o each
<br /> member of the Com~ittee and to each organization which participated in
<br /> said~observance.
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of these resolutions be spread
<br /> upon the minutes of the City Council and copies thereof be forwarded
<br /> to the~ersons and organizations above mentioned."

<br />a sewer easement and ~ reconm~end that the City accep$ the. easement for the sewer line."
<br /> "Plat ~o. 6 of Highl~d-Biltmore shows a ten £oot sewer easement crossing lot
<br />231 to serve the houses on lots 2~31 and 230. The~ow~ers o~ lot ~31 . wished to build certain additions to their
<br />house which in turn required ~ slight relocation of the sewer line.
<br /> The owners of lot 231 now wish to se~l their property but the title attorney
<br />will not approve the title unless the City accepts the conveyance to .it o~ an easement for the relocated sewer
<br />line. I attach an appropriate easement deed, in which, the o~v~ers of lot.230 have expressed their consent, and
<br />I request that you se~nre authorization for ~the proper City officials to join in the deed to express the consent
<br />o£ the City. The work of relocating the sewer has been accomplished without cost to the City."
