<br /> "Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that it is necessary for the City to acquire the fee simple title in and
<br />to the following~described tract of land situate in the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginza, for use zn connection with drainage improvements required by the
<br />widening and improvement of Airline Boulevard, Project O058-1g4-101C-1, the
<br />record Title to sai~ property being in the name' of Tidewater Realty Company:

<br /> An irregular shaped parcel of land beginning at the intersection of
<br /> the northwest line of Wyoming Avenue and south line of Bruce Avenue, and
<br />~.:running thence westward~y along Bruce Avenue as it curves to the right 155 feet,
<br /> more or,less, to a point where the ~ast line of Lot 'R' on the Nap of Grove
<br /> 'Park, Nap Book ~0 pave 61, Norfolk County Circuit Court, intersects the south
<br /> line of Bruce. Avenue; thence in a southerly direction along the east line of
<br /> said Lot 'R 48 feet, more or less, to a corner of said Lot 'R'; thence in an
<br /> ~as~erly direction along the north line of Lot l, Block A, Map o£ Kingman

<br /> more or less, to the point of beginning.

<br /> Be it further resolved that the City Attorney is authorized and instructed
<br /> to institute condemnation proceedings to acquire the aforesaid property for the
<br />.purposes of the City.".

<br />request for the State High, ay Department to proceed with plans and specifications for the [mprovemen~ of Route
<br />337 (Old Suffolk Boulevard). This is in compliance with'the Afinexation Decree."

<br /> "WHEREAS, the recent annexation has brgught within the city limits of Portsmouth that
<br />portion of State Highway 33?, known as Old Suffolk Boulevard. extending from the former
<br />City limits to the H~dges Ferry Bridge; and
<br /> WHEREAS, under theJ~annexatiomorder~the· Cit~.is committed to expend within five
<br />years a~ least $1~5,000.00 being the City's one-fourth share under Federal Urban Aid,
<br />for improvement of--certain $%reets androads,.including that portion of State Highway
<br />337..e~te~ding from Alexander%s Corner [o the Hedges Ferry Bridge; and
<br /> ....... WHEREAS~the~.aforesaid item o~ $~5,~0~00 ~a~ been secured through a recen~
<br />bo~d issue and is now ayailable_for, t~e..purpese aforesaid; and
<br /> WHEREAS, ~hat portion of State Highway 337 between Alexander's Corner and the
<br />Hedges Ferry Bridge is now. a.heavily~t~aveled thoroughfare and the traffic thereon is
<br />expected to increase substantially, due to housing developments within the City and
<br />in Norfolk County,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
