September 13th, 1960. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Breedlo~e that the co~nnication be received as information, acknowledged, <br />and referred to a conference of the Council, was adapted, without digsenting vote. <br /> <br /> 60-298 - The following communication from the Planning Commission was read: <br /> <br /> "The Planning Commission at its meeting~on September 9t~, 1960, unanimously approved the <br />petition of Construction Associates, Inc. and Charles L.' Reyndlds, and recormnend to the City Council that that I <br />portion of South St. east of Hamilton Ave. to the eastern line of Virginia Realty and I~vestment Company be I <br />closed, subject to the provision that any G{iiities that are located on 0r within this street shall be relocated?' <br /> <br />Action deferred until next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br /> 60-299 - THe annual report of the-Planning Commission was presented and, on motion of <br />Mr. Breedlove, received. <br /> <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Leafy ~that rules be suspended tO hear E.F. HuEhes was adopted, without <br /> <br /> Mr. Nughes spoke regarding a new recreafion facility - <br /> <br /> · 60-300 - Mr. Seward made a suggestion that the Councilcon~der meeting in business <br />session once a week, probably from eight to nine A.M., for the purpose of working more closely to~ether, in <br />oTder to expedite handling of matters which are normally channeled through'~he City Manager's office, and to <br />discuss questions of mutual interest which would make the w~k of the ~ouncxl, as *~wEole, more effective. <br /> <br /> Referred to a conference of the Counci~j ' <br /> <br /> 60-301 - Mr. Walker spoke in regard to the d~g si{u~i6n in several sections of the City <br />drainage and al~o in regard ~o the information h~ 'had requested from the City ~anager, relati~eto the Fire and <br />Po'lice Departments. · .... <br /> <br /> 60-302 - Mr. Smith reported on his inspectio~ visit 'to Patrick~Henry HoSpital, on 'Sunday <br />August 28th, and stated that he felt the money invested in the hospital is well spent and that the patients are <br />receiving excellent a~tention. <br /> <br /> 60-303 - Motion of Mr. Walker to suspend the rules to hear from ~Nm~E. 'Fink'was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fink spoke regarding his bid on buses which became the property of the City with <br />annexation, and which the City Manager was authOrized to sell. <br /> <br /> Mr.' Breedlove stated that since this is an ~dministrative matter, and one Shich the <br />City Manager had been requested by the ~ouncil to handleJit~Shauld be left in the hands of the Manager. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
