(Signed Richard D Dodd)t' <br /> <br /> The Mayor stated that a co,~zmission had been appointed by th~ former Mayor in this <br />matter and that he would add Mr. Dodd's name to those on the commission, to ~nich Mr. Dodd agreed. <br /> <br /> Motion.of Mr. B~eedlove To accept and acknowledge the communication a nd refer it to <br />the Centennial Commission was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />61~- The £ollowin~ motion of Mr. Walker was lost, there being no second: <br /> <br /> "Mr. President, I move, in order that our city code conform to the requirements of <br />the.State code, and to establish the intent of ceunsil in event of ~uture judicialmreview, that Section $-1 o£ <br />the Code b~amended by substituting the word '~auu~ry" in lieu of t~e word 'July', that the Manaier next present <br />Counci.1 with a six months budget covering the period from-J~'ly~l, 1961 through December 31, 1961 and that he tak~ <br />the necessary steps to permit an orderly transition to a calendar £iscal year effective January l, 1962." <br /> <br />The following motion of M~. Walker was lost, there being no second: <br /> <br /> "Mr. President, I m~ve,.in order that our city code con£orm To the requirements of th~ <br />State Code, and to establish the intent of Council in ~event o£ ~uture judicial review, that Section $-ll of the <br />Code be amended, by substituting the word 'July' for the word 'January'." <br /> <br /> 61-7 - Motion of Mr. Breedlove that the -transit problem be given priority on the <br />agenda at a con2erence of the Council to be held on Tuesday, January ~Tth. 19B1,~ and that the Transit Company <br />be summoned ~o appear at that conference and to present information pro~Wised the CoUncil by that Company six <br />months ago, wasadopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 61~S - M~tion o~ Mr, ~ar,nes~ that a~ a~propriate resolution be drafted acknowledging <br /> the honor which has been conferred on Dr. Mac Adams, a native of Portsmouth, who has been chosen one of the ten <br />- outstanding young men o£ America, by the national organization e£ the Jmnior Chamber of Couunerce, was adopted, <br /> ~ithout dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
