Hansen to be appointed to fill an unexpired term ending December <br /> 31, 1999, replacing Jimmy R. Spruill, Jr. <br /> <br />Downtown Desi_~n Committee <br /> <br />· Katherine Collins to be reappointed to fill a three-year term ending January <br /> 31, 2001. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to close the <br />nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above nominations <br />were adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />98 - 07 Items Submitted by Council Members: <br /> <br />Mr; Martin recognized Monte H. Martin for being selected Employee of the <br />Month for the month of January, and Debbie K. Hebert for receiving her <br />Certified Municipal Clerk's (CMC) designation. <br /> <br />· Mr. Benn reminded Council that the U.S.S. Elrod returns from deployment <br /> on Thursday. <br /> <br />98 - 08 Non-Agenda Speakers: <br /> <br />Helen Persons, 1314 Green Street, spoke on lead in Washington Park, <br />permanent relocation of residents in Washington Park, and vendors no <br />longer allowed to enter Washington park. <br /> <br />2. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, spoke on behalf of GRIP <br /> concerning Section 3.12 of the City Charter and the law being ignored. <br /> <br />3. Louis Whitehead, 4415 County Street, spoke on the lack of economic <br /> development in the City. <br /> <br />Steve Pearson, 149 Grayson Street, expressed appreciation for soccer <br />improvements at the Wilson Soccer League complex, and provided a <br />progress report on the soccer complex. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to allow the speaker an <br />additional two minutes to speak, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />5.
