28'7 January 13, 1998 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 13, 1998, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, James T. Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., *J. Thomas Benn I!1, City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 98- 01 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, City Hall, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98 - 02 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: (1) Public Safety Update (2) City Council Retreat Topics Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: (1) Appointments by City Council to committees, boards, or commissions as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). (2) Discussion or consideration of-the condition, acquisition, or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, with the subject property being generally in the downtown and West Norfolk areas of the City, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from Open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
