28'7 <br /> <br />January 13, 1998 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 13, 1998, there <br />were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, <br />Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, James T. Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., *J. Thomas Benn I!1, City <br />Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />98- 01 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, City Hall, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., <br />Tuesday, January 13, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />98 - 02 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />(1) Public Safety Update <br />(2) City Council Retreat Topics <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br />(1) Appointments by City Council to committees, boards, or commissions as <br /> permitted by Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br />(2) Discussion or consideration of-the condition, acquisition, or use of real <br /> property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, <br /> with the subject property being generally in the downtown and West Norfolk <br /> areas of the City, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 <br />of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br />(1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from Open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />(2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br /> which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or <br /> considered in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Debbie K.
