However, we look for the same consideration on our appli- <br />cation and also to the people we expect to serve as has been shown no other applicants for Club Bus Permits. <br /> We feel that we can serve the peqple of Douglas Park, Lincoln Gardens, and Cavalie~ <br />Manor to their advantage, also this Club Bus Service will be an asset no the City of Portsmouth. Our roune will <br />bring the people to the downtown area." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Barnes to refer no conference of the Council was adopted without dissenting roue. <br /> <br />61-197 - The following communication from Charles B. Richardson was read: <br /> <br /> "Please place me on the agenda of the Council meeting of July 11, 1961, in order <br />that I may presenn a petition supporting the election of Mr. James L. Choate, of 706 London Street, as Cormnissioner <br />of the Housing Authority. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Walker to suspend the rules to hear from Mr. Richardson. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richardson spoke explaining that the letter he gave the Clerk on this date was in error, <br />and he wished to speak in regard to a letter which was presented at the last meeting. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richardson was given the privilege of speaking in regard to the operation of High's Ice <br />Cream store on Glasgow and Fort Lane and presented the following petition: <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned qualified voners and real estate owners of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, respectfully petition your honorable body to refrain the Rights Ice Cream Company from opening and selling <br />bread, can goods, and other such commodities, as stores sell during the week, on Sunday. Location of place is on <br />Fort Lane and Glasgow Street." <br /> (Signed:) Mrs. Cornelia Reid and numerous <br /> others <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Walker that the matter be referred to the City Attorney was adopted and by the <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith, Barnes, Leafy, Seward, Walker <br />Nays: Breedlove~ Weiseman <br /> <br /> 61-198 - Motion of Mr. Weiseman that the renaming of Greenway Drive and Arlington Place be <br />referred to the conference on stree~ renaming was adopted without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 61-199 - The letter written by the City Attorney to Councilman Walker, in reply no his letter <br />Dresented at the last Council meeting, was read. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Walker that the letter be received and spread upon the minutes was lost, there <br /> <br />being no second. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
