<br /> 61-259 - "The question of a street lighting survey being made was referred to me at the
<br />last Council meeting. I have consulted with the Virginia Electric and Power Company officials and they have
<br />agreed to make this survey and recommendations.
<br /> For the information of the Council, we installed seventy-two new street lights
<br />in the' residential areas of the City last year. So far this year, we have ordered seventy-five new street lights
<br />end of theme, fifty-eight have been installed to date."

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA,
<br />1951, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 16-9, 16-10, 16-14, 16-17,
<br />16-23, 16-36 and 16-51 THEREOF, CONCERNING ROUTES AND HEADWAYS OF MOTOR BUSES,
<br />REASONABLE RETURN ON INVESTMENT, RATES OF FARE, PAYMENT IN LIEU OF LICENSE TAXES,
<br />INDEMNIFICATION OF CITY, THE GRANTING OF A PERMIT AND THE PROVISION OF A BOND AND
<br />INSURANCE COVERAGE AND PROHIBITING THE CARRYING OF INTRA-CITY PASSENGERS IN CERTAIN
<br />CASES"

<br /> "ICqEREAS, pursuant to Section 16-9 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />1951, as amended, the City Council may designate by resolution th~ routes and headways for intra-
<br />urban buses operated within the City; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Community Motor Bus Company, Incorporated, has submitted proposed routes
<br />and headways to be in effect fro~ and after 2:00 A.M., September 17, 1961, which are satisfactory
<br />to the City Council,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that from and after 2:00 A.M., September 17th, 1961, the following routes and headways shall be
<br />operated by Community Motor Bus Company, Incorporated:
