PORTSMOUTH BOULEVARD: <br /> <br /> (a) Third Street to Fourth Street - no change <br /> <br /> (b) Fourth Street to Seventh Street - 500 block <br /> <br /> (c) Seventh Street to Green Street - 600 block <br /> <br /> (d) Green Street to Seaboard Air Line Railroad - No change <br /> <br /> (e) Seaboard Air Line Railroad to Turnpike Road - 3900 block <br /> <br /> (f) Turnpike Road to Airline Boulevard - 4000 block <br /> <br /> further resolved that the effective date for such changes of house numbers shall be as <br /> <br /> (1) Ail north south streets north of High St. and east of, but not including <br /> Peninsula Avenue (First Avenue) - 12:01 A.M., October 15, 1961 <br /> <br /> (2) Ail other streets - 12:01 A M November 12, 1961. <br /> <br /> Be it further resolved that notice of assignment of new house numbers shall be given by the <br />Building Official at least ten days prior to the respective effective dates to the owner or occupant of every <br />house the number of which is to be changed.' <br /> <br /> 61-252 - "I submit the attach~/~rdinance and recommend that it be placed on first reading. <br />This ordinance establishes a Library Board for the operation of the new Library when it is established in the old <br />Post Office Building. <br /> <br />Mrs. F~Murran presented the proposed changes, approved by the Library Board: as follows: <br /> <br />1. In Section 3, second line, immediately after words 'city manager' insert 'on the <br /> recommendation of the Public Library Board' and delete <br /> <br />2. In Section 5, after the word 'expend' insert ~for operating expenses'. <br /> <br />3. In Section 6, second line, immediately after the words 'public library' omit the words <br /> 'or on July 1, 1962, whichever shall occur first'. <br /> <br />The City Manager stated that the second and third changes suggested had been made. <br /> <br />senting vote: <br /> <br />Motion of MC. W~ker to approve the following ordinance on ~rst reading was adopted, without dis- <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />EOARD, PRESCRIBING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES, AtYO PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION <br />OF THE ASSETS OF THE PORTSMOUTH PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE PORTSMOUTH COMMUNITY <br />LIBRARY" <br /> <br /> 61-253 - "I recommend that the City Manager be authorized to employ an architect for the remodel <br />lng of the old Post Office for use as a Library. Submitted herewith is a letter from the Portsmouth Library <br />Board with reference to the hiring of an architect. This is for your information. <br /> <br />Inclosure <br /> <br /> "At a recent meeting the Portsmouth Public Library Board formulated a <br />recommendationm~hich it wishes you to transmit to the City Council. <br /> At the conference held in July-by the Library Board and City Council, <br />the members of the Council asked that the Library Board send to them any infor- <br />mation which might be helpful and pertinent to the establishment of the new li- <br />brary~ hence this recommendation which follows: <br /> Over a period of years: the Portsmouth Public Library Board has <br /> <br /> <br />
