<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of these resqlutions be ~orwarded
<br />by the City Clerk to all members of the Congress of the United States
<br />and the General Assembly of Virginia representing the people of this
<br />City, and that copies be forwarded to the governing bodies of the Cities
<br />of Norfolk, South Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Newport News and
<br />Hampton, and the Counties of Norfolk~ Princess Anne and Nansemond.

<br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting
<br />held on the 14th day of November, 1961."
<br />
<br /> 61-312 - "I submit the attached agreement between the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad
<br />Company and the City of Portsmouth and recommend that the proper City officials be authorized to sign. This is
<br />for a drainage easement under the Atlantic Coast Line tracks for a sub-division development in West Park Manor."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Dillon to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager that the proper
<br />City officials be authorized to s~gn the agreement and that the following resolution be approved was adopted with-
<br />out dissenting vote;
<br />
<br />"Be it resolved by tbs'City Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia in regular meeting assembled, that the Mayor of said'City
<br />be, and he hereby ~s, authorized to enter into an agreement with
<br />the ATLANTIC COAST LINE'RAILROAD COMPANY, and to sign same on
<br />behalf of said City, whereby the said Railroad Company grants
<br />unto said City the right or license to clean out, improve 'and
<br />maintain the Railroad Company's ditch as now locatad along the
<br />northeasterly portion of the Railroad Company's right of way
<br />at Portsmouth, Virginia, said ditch beginning aL a point 2,505
<br />feet southe*astwardly, measured along the center line of the
<br />Railroad Company's main track from Mile Post B-23t, and 20 feet,
<br />more or less, aortheastwardly, measured at right angler from said
<br />center line; running thence southe&stwardly parallel to said
<br />center line i45 feet, more or less; Together with the right and
<br />privilege to dig and maintain a ditch at either end of the
<br />a~ove mentioned ditch; said ditches 5o extent northeastwardly
<br /> 30 feet, more or less, 5o the northeastern boundary line of
<br /> the right of way of the Railroad Company's main track, which right
<br /> of way ~s 50 feet wide on each side of the center lfne of said
<br /> main track; ~ogether also with the right and privilege ~o main-
<br /> rain the Railroad Company's 18-inch cast iron pipe across the
<br /> right of way and under said main track a5 the northwestern end
<br /> of the first described ditch; as more particularly described
<br /> in said agreement, which agreement is dated October 19, 196I,
<br /> a copy of which agreement is filed with this City Council."

<br /> 61-313 - "I submit the attached ~greement between the Virginia Electric and Power Com-
<br />pany and the City of Portsmouth and recommend that the proper City officials be authorized ~o szgn. This agree-
<br />ment is necessary in order that the V~rginia Electric and Power Company can furnish power to the new Highland
<br />Biltmore School."
