March 13th, 1962. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 62-41 - An appropriation of $140,000.00 from the Annexation Bond Fund, approved on <br />first reading at last meeting, was taken up. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Leery, $140,000.00 was appropriated from the Annexation Bond Fund for <br />the improvement of Portsmouth Bouleva~, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ay es: <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Smith, Atkinson, Barnes, Knight, Leery, Walker <br />None <br /> <br /> 62-6 Zoning petition 3-62, George C. Norris (east side of Airline Blvd.) on which <br />action was de{erred at meeting of January 23rd, 1962, was taken up. <br /> <br />dissenting vote: <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Leery, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDMENT ORDINANCE 1962-3" <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />62-59 - The following communication from L L Knight was read: <br /> <br /> "In view of my election co the City Council and qualification thereto this date, I hereby <br />resign from the Portsmouth Port Con~uission. Please be assured o2 my continued'interest in the economic and <br />dumtrial development of our City." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Bar~es that the resignation be accepted and that the question of filling <br />the vacancy en the Port Commiasion be referred to ~ conference of the Council, was adopted, without dissenting <br />vote. <br /> <br /> 62-60 - Mr. Walker reported on complaints which had come to his attention, regarding the <br />nuisance of dogs running at large in various sections of the City, particularly in Pinners Point. <br /> <br /> The City Manager stated that there are two game wardens, who work under the Police De - <br />partment. <br /> <br /> 62-61 - Mr+ Walker made inquiry as to the Municipal Code, if there ate to be further <br />conferences on same. The City Attorney stated that the Code is in form and h~s been mailed to the Michie Compa~ <br />but there will be an opportunity for members of Council to present any suggestions for changes prior to the <br />time of pnhlication~ <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
