June 12th, 1962

If any one of you were to come up to this road during a period of bad
weather or when traffic is heavy, you will find that it creates a traffic bottleneck, because the residents
who live on the west side of West Road have cars parked along the road and there are continuous holes in the
street on the east and west side of West Road. Due to the fact that this road has never been completely re-
paired, it is always in bad
Last wee'k when meeting' with a group of people who live in that area, this
question was discussed a't' great length and I volunteered to wr~i'te a letter to {he Council to see if something
could be done this summer to widen this road to Hartford Street. It is not a long distance and it is something
that is needed more than other streets t~at are not as heavily traveled. If you were to drive up there and
look it over, it seems ridiculous to build a wi~e<t~oroughfare to a certain point and then cut i~ off abruptly
to a little more than a one, lane thoroughfare.
I don't believe I..have eve~ written to the Mayor and the City Council before
regarding any subje'ct, but I believe this to be of .sufficient importance to receive your attention and the
people who live in the areas above mentioned' request that something be done this summer t~ relieve this situa-
tion.
Your cooperation in this matter wi'll, indeed, be appreciated.
