322 March 10, 1998 <br /> <br />Downtown Design Committee <br /> <br />Philip A. Weber appointed to fill a three-year term ending January 31, 2001, <br />replacing Hunter L. Daugherty. <br /> <br />Wetlands Board <br />Karen S. Jordan appointed to fill an unexpired term ending May 31, '1998, <br />replacing Jerome W. Nickerson. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to close the <br />nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above <br />nominations were adopted by unanimous vote; <br /> <br />98 - 53 Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />There were no items. <br /> <br />98 - 54 Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />Helen Person; 13'14 Green Street, spoke regarding lead poisoning in <br />Washington Park and expressed her concern that she has not heard <br />from anyone on her last complaint. <br /> <br />2. Donald Self, 3824 Meherrin River Reach, spoke on the condition of the <br /> Charles Peete Little League field. <br /> <br />3. Wayne White, 5'16 Spectator Street, spoke on taxi cab drivers losing <br /> jobs because their permits are being revoked. <br /> <br />4. Johnnie A. Rose, 1815 Lansing Avenue, spoke on taxi cab drivers losing <br /> jobs because their permits are being revoked. <br /> <br />James W. Farmer, 4817 Mallard Crescent, spoke on theft/vandalism at <br />Olive Branch Cemetery. <br /> <br />6. Raleigh G. Harlsey, 2124 Peach Street, spoke on junk cars behind fence <br /> at Gosport Auto. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons to extend the time for Mr. Harlsey for three <br />additional minutes.
