March 10. 1998 At a Called Meeting of the City Council _on Tuesday, March 10, 1998, there were present: *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, *James T. Martin P. Ward Robinett, J. Thomas Benn III, City Manager Ronald W. Mass e, Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 98- 43 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6t~ floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98 - 44 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Capital Improvement Plan - *1998 - 2003 2. Update on Welfare Reform Program Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to prowsions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia to discuss or consider the following: 1. Discussion of appointmentS by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as permitted by subsection (A)(1); Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition, or use of real property for public purpose in the downtown section of the City, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.~1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's -khowledge during the' immediately preceding Executive Session of the City -Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
