3 9 ~- March 27, 2001 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, Mamh 27, 2001, there were <br /> present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts <br /> P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst <br /> Sr., City Manager Daniel M. Stuck, City Attorney Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br /> 01 - 97 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the Cit~Y~h Council to be held in the Cit <br /> Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6 floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March <br /> 27, 2001 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 01 - 98 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br /> 1. CAR Appeal - Monumental Methodist Church <br /> 2. CAR Appeal - 516 North Street <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to defer consideration of both <br /> CAR appeals until April 24, 2001, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 3. Turnpike Road Briefing <br /> 4. Public Safety Center Site Plan <br /> 5. Maersk Sealand Project Update <br /> <br /> 01 - 99 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Closed <br /> Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br /> or consider the following: <br /> <br /> First, the disposition of publicly held real property, as authorized by paragraph <br /> 3, with the subject property being in the City of Suffolk; and <br /> <br /> second, appointments to boards and. commissions, as authorized by <br /> paragraph 1. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br /> 2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the ~est of the Council Member's <br /> knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public ~)usiness matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considerec~ in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Dr. ,Ja~j~s W~ Holley III Debra Y.
