Goode, Jr. was resd: "Please accept my resignation ss t~e ~lanning Commission's representative on the Advisory Recreation Board." Motion of Mr. Knight to refer to a conference of the Council was adopted without dissenting vote. %~3_~ 63-143 - The following communication from the Planning Commission was ~ead: · "At its regular monthly meeting on ~une ~4, ~963,/ the~City Planning Commission unanimously resolved to recommend two street c~os~res; each 'subject ~o retention of such utility easements as deemed necessary by the Director-'of Public Utilities and the Director 6f Public Works; 8-63~5 Harvey Lindsay and Sons - reqnesz to close a portion of Halifax Avenue between Airline Boulevard and Scott Street. S-63~6 Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad'- request to close a portion of North S~reet east of Virginia Avenue." ~MotDon~of Mr. Bsrhes to refer to the City Attorney was-adopted, without dissenting vote. 63-1~4~ The.following communication from the Planning Commission was read: "At its regular monthly meeting on June 4, 1963, the City Planning Commission resolved ~o recommend approval of the following two group housing project site plan applications: 1. Portsmouth Gardens, Imc., northwest corner.of Glasgow and Cambridge ~o Atlantic Coast Line Railroad; proposal to ~dd two buildings containing 4M apartments which would raise the total fro~136 to 184. After considerable study~and lengthy research during which the applicant's attorney ascertained that Lawrence Circle is no~ a public stree~ and thus falls in the category of off-street parking, the Planning Commission resolved that the amended site plan meets zoning ordinance~requiretnents. 2~ Catalina Development Corporation, "Cherokee. Park", revised from earlier sub- mlssions; .garden-type group he,sing project for northwest corner of Cherokee Road and City Park Avenue (extended).
