"It has come go my attention that because of changes made in the receng revzsion of the Zoning and
matters. Therefore, I am recommendiug that the following procedure be followed in this regard.
After holding a public he.ri,ne en ~pl~Jlning a~d:,zening~.applica~tions,, .the.Planning ~ommisszon should
report each matter with its recommendation and the reasons therefor ~o the City Counci~t.,. ,These:reports should be
received by the Council at a formal meeting and set down for a public hearing at s future Council Meeting. The
mc.glen fixing the date-of~.ttfe ~)ublic:heari~g by the Council ~sho~ld elsa d, ireot ~the-City-Cxlerk to. advertise the
ficiently identify each matter ,to be heard'and gi~e-the ,r, ecommendstio~: of~the Planning Commi~ion thereon, but the
reasons supporting the recommendation of the Planning Commission need not be set forth. Since the statutory process
for advertising requires three weeks to carr~y out, .,like ~p~blic hear. ing should geng~,ally be.~ set .for the Council
Meeting one month following the meeting at which the report of the Planning Commission is received. Where there
are changes in dates for Council Meetings &r other unusnal, circumstanc~es, I.will be happy,,to~dvise the Council of
~the earliest date at which such public hearings may be held.
The City Clerk should advertise the notice of the public heariug to be held by the Council on each
advise the City Clerk as to t3~e~P~o4~er dates for advertising wher~ there are changes in the dates of the Council
Meetings.
The above procedure should be followed, ~vith regard, t~ zoni~tg~ ordincnce ~amendmen~ts...subdivision
