March lO, 1964 <br /> <br /> 64-46 - "The Procedure for the purchase of city automobile Tags was referred to me by the City <br />Council for a repor{I The~cemplaint concerned the requirement-of having to present~ the state motor vehicle <br />registration card when purchasing city automobile tags. <br /> This is enforced b~, the~ commissioner o~revenue office ~n acce~denc~.with Section 18~315 of the <br />City Code. It is aisc importasz to the' city-in'obtaining ~he proper information for the ~assessment of personal <br />pro~er~y taxes on automobiles. <br /> The complaint further stated, "It-prohibited the pmrchase of ~ags by mail which was a convenience." <br />The City has never permitted the purchase of automobile ~ags by mail but does provide stations in Cradock and <br />Mid~-City Shopping Center for~ the month of January when the-tags-are due~ <br /> The State Motor Vehicle Code requires the registration card to be with the vehicle only when it <br />is being operated." <br /> <br />Metion ef Mr~ Barnes to receive as informatiem was?.ado~red,~+without dissenting vo~e.~ <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />64-32 - The folldwing ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting~. ~as taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE A~TttORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF TWO MILLION FOUR HUND~D THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH)-~VIRGINIA, TO'BE KNOWN AS GENERAL OBLIGATION <br />BONDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO CONSTRUCT SCHOOL BUII~NGS, TO CONSTRUCT <br />CERTAIN OTHER PUBLIC BUILDINGS, AND TO'CONSTRUCT'CERTAIN STREET AND ~TtLITY <br />I~IPROVE~ENTS.
