April 14, 1964 <br /> <br /> 64-75 - "I submit the attached letter from the Portsmoath.'Hecreation Advisoz~y Board with regard <br />re the former Highland Bittmore Sghool Site <br /> <br /> "In a letter dated February 19,.~t963, the Portsmouth Recreatioa Advisory Board recommended that <br />the former sites of Highland Biltmore Schools No. 1 and No. 2 be retained by the city and designated as <br />Recreation aromas. <br /> Subsequent action by City Couucil ~esulted in the' No. 1 ares beingldesignate~ as s:Recreation <br />area, but action was deferred on the remaining property. <br /> At this time, the'Board wishes.sgsln to recommend 5o Council that the No. g site be considered <br />for recreational purposes. <br /> Pres~nt~ plans call-for~the constructio~ of a- lighted, regulation size baseball field on this <br />site which would serve primsrily"(but not solely) as s home field for the Portsmouth Babe Ruth Lesgue. <br /> With this ~item having high priority on th~ Cs~ibat t~provemenss Requess, it is hoped that council <br />will consider this requesz ss soon as possible. <br /> Further, I feel that it should be noted 5hat the Boa~d is aware-of the interest displayed in <br />this property by the Biltmore Baptist ~hurc~._ The Reverend T. ~.
