<br />for its forward thinking and~enactment of the amendments.~
<br /> There has been a problem with houses scheduled to be demolished, and for which no owner can be
<br />found, in that there is considerable delay before demolition, due to ta'c:k of funds and prolonged legal procedures.
<br />All such s.tructures are ~e£erred ro the building ~inspector for .action.. The Board urges that means be found
<br />expedite these demolitions.
<br /> Goals--two members of the Board spoke ar a meeting of the Park View Improvement League last year.

<br /> REGULATIONS AN]) PROCEDURES CONCERN~G ENFORCEMENT OF THE PORTSMOUTH MINIMUM HOUSING CODE:
<br /> ~REVISED APRIL, 1953)
<br /> 1. Following the initial inspection of the dwelling units or rooming house, a Yormal notice of
<br />violations will be sent by eerti£ied mail to the owner iT he can be found, or otherwise to the agen~ having
<br />charge of the property. The notice shall list the violations of the housing code, ins~ruc~ the responsible
<br />person ro commence .correctiv~ aCfion within 10 d~ys~ or ~Otify thisdeparf~en~ o.f'hi'~'intenfions, and advise him
<br />of hi.s.right of-appeal.,
<br /> 2. If the department is act contac-ted at.the end of ten days, a reinspection,shatl
<br />no work has been ~started, a final notice, by certified mail, shall be sear our. This notice'shsl~ ~'ontain
<br />warning for this office to be contacted immediately,-or the matter will b~ refermed.'to the courts for action.
<br /> 3. If this office ~s still not contacted for cea days following the m~iti~g of the: final ~not~ce,
<br />the inspector shall obtain a summons or warrant charging the person with the violation of ~sp~ci~ied sectionS, of
<br />the housing code, and schedule the hearing without, delay.- No. further attempt shal~ ~e made to, contact the
<br />owner, except through the cou~t.
<br />4. In any failure to comply, the property shall be placarded, 30 day-s~ f:ollow~in~ the first notice.
