August llth, 1964 <br /> <br />64-202 - The following communication from Thornton M. Frye, Pastor of Biltmoze Baptist Church, was <br /> <br />read: <br /> <br /> "On July 9 the City Council recommended a meeting of representatives of the Portsmouth Recreation <br />Advisory Board and the Biltmore Baptist Church. <br /> Biltmore Baptist Church hereby states its satisfaction and concurrence with the recommendations of <br />the Recreation Advisory Board as contained in a letter to theCity Council dated July-24." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Knight to receive as information, and that the Recreation Advisory Board by commended <br />for having satisfactorily handled this matter, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />64-203 - The following communication from the Tidewater Youth Association, Inc., was read: <br /> <br /> "The Tidewater Youth Association Inc. commend you on .the expedient action that was taken in your <br />last meeting concerning the request of property on Portsmouth Boulevard for a YOUTH CENTER to aid our citizens in <br />vocational training. <br /> The Tidewater Youth Association Inc. request permission to have representatives present at this <br />conference and be heard on this all important matter since it was brought out that sofae members of the Council <br />were not familiar with our organization. <br /> We are convinced that our city council is concerned about ~he existing conditions and are willing <br />to do everything within their power to improve them. <br /> Your deepest consideration will be greatly appreciated and your reply is awaited with a great deal <br />of anticipation." <br /> <br /> ~{otion of Mr. Dillon to acknowledge the letter and that the Council permit the Youth AssoCiation <br />to have representatives present at the Council conference considering their request~ was adopted, without <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 64-204 ~ The report on audit of the office of the Clerk of Court of Hustings, by the Auditor of <br />Public Accounts, was presented, and on motion of Mr. B~rmes, received as information. <br /> <br /> 64-205 - The report on audit of the Municil~F1 Court by the Auditor of Public Accounts, was presented,I <br />and on motion o~ Mr. Dillon, received as information. <br /> <br /> 64-206 - The report of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations' Court by the Auditor of Public Accounts, <br />was presented, and on motion of Mr..Knight, redeived as information. <br /> <br /> 64-207 - The report on the inspection of the lockup of the City of Portsmouth by the State <br />Department of ~elfare and Institutions was presented, and on mo[ion of Mr. Knight, received as information. <br /> <br /> 64-208 - The report on inspection of the City Jail by the State Department of Welfare and Institut- <br />ions was presented, and on motion of Mr. Barnes, received as information. <br /> <br /> 64-209 - The annual report o~ the City Planning Commission was presented, and on motion of ~ir.
