35:2 <br /> Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a motion to transfer $100,000 from the Grants Contingency <br /> Account for a Performing Arts Program (Operation PAC: The House). <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />The City of Portsmouth has received a grant from the Beazley <br />Foundation for a Performing Arts Program entitled "Operation PAC: <br />The House." <br /> <br />The funds will be used by the Department of Parks, Recreation and <br />General Services to provide training and an outlet for the artistic talents <br />of the City's youth ages 6-17. <br /> <br />· These activities will supplement the creative arts programs available to <br /> the City's youth through the school system. <br /> <br />PAC: The House is dedicated to exposing the City's youth to a multi- <br />cultural performing arts program including theatre, dance, music, <br />literary art and visual arts. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The Beazley Foundation has awarded the City $100,000. <br /> <br />· No local match is required. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to transfer <br />$100,000 from the Grants Contingency Account for a Performing Arts <br />Program, "Operation PAC: The House," and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Holley <br />Nays: None <br />Abstained: Robinett - member of the Beazley Foundation Board <br /> <br />98-84 Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />98-85 Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Mr. Martin submitted the following resolution authorizing the City <br />Manager to execute a deed of correction to the Industrial <br />Development Authority for the lots in Port Centre that were omitted <br />from the March 24th meeting. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the <br />following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />DEED OF CORRECTION TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA FOR BLOCKS 12 AND 21 IN <br />PORTCENTRE COMMERCE PARK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is property located within Blocks 12 and 21 on the <br />Plat of the Subdivision of Portcentre Commerce Park that were not a part of <br />said blocks as subdivided; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a resolution was adopted by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia at a meeting held on March 10, 1998, which authorized <br />the City Manager to convey Blocks 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 as <br />shown on the plat of" Portcentre Commerce Park, Portsmouth, Virginia,"to <br />the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; <br />and <br /> <br /> <br />
