<br />Disclosure: Councilmen Clemons, Martin, and Robinett stated that they have
<br />family members who are employed with the City of Portsmouth but that such
<br />employment, v~ould not affect their ability to impartially consider and vote on the
<br />recommendation.

<br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt the following
<br />ordinance with the following amendments~ and was adopted by the following vote:

<br />Approval of the City Manager's recommendation as he described it this evening
<br />with the 4% increase for public service fire and police with the increase being
<br />effective January 1999 in the mid point of this particular budget year for that
<br />segment of theemployee population and that would also include the initiation and
<br />adoption of the pay plan as you have identified that with the step increases that
<br />have been identified for the public service sector of the employees. This wou:ld
<br />also include 4 per cent general wage increase for the general employees effective
<br />July 1, 1998 for this fiscal year and that on or before September 30, 1998 the
<br />general service employees of the city which is all the rest of the employees that
<br />we have would have for them a pay plan with the grade and step concept as has
<br />been developed for the public safety employees to be implemented in the 1999
<br />budget year. · ~' ~
