June 8th, 1965 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, keld on June 8th, 1965, there were present: <br /> <br />R. Irvine Smith, Jack P. Barnes, John L. Dillon, Gaorge D. Eastes, Burrell R. Johnson, i <br />L. L, Knight, W. T. Leary, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City ~anager, and M. A. Korb, City <br />Attorney. <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by ~'~. Barnes, <br /> <br />Minutes of regular meeting of May 25th, 1965 were read and approved. <br /> <br />65-148 - The following hearing on zoning petitions was held: <br /> <br />Petition Z 65-9 - Marvin B. Brovm <br /> <br />Marvin B. Brown spoke and presented the following letter from James R. and <br />Mamie E. Stancil: <br /> <br />"We the undersigned own the property at 804 Stanley Road behind Mr. Brown's <br />property and we have no objection to his property h~i~g zoned to E~I <br />commercial." <br /> <br />Guy Saunders, 200 Cypress Road, spoke. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Eastes to concur in the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission to disapprove the application, was adopted, without dissenting <br />vote. <br /> <br />Petition Z 65-12 - Harold C. Itacker <br /> <br /> C. B. Kavanaugh and R. A. Browmspoke. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Learyto concur in the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission to disapprove the application, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> Petition Z 65-15 - Attorney Donald C. Kilgere <br /> <br />No one spoke in regard to the petition. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Dillon to approve the following ordinance on first reading, <br /> <br />was adopted, withomt dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDMBNT ORDINANCE Z 65-13" <br /> <br />Petition Z 65-15 - Attorney John A MacKenzie <br /> <br />John A. MacKenzie and Sidney Burden spoke. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commlssionnand to also include the ninety feet south of the property for C-2 and to place the followSng ordinance <br />on first reading, was adopted: <br /> <br />"ZONING AMENDmeNT ORDINANCE` Z 65-15" <br /> <br />Petition Z 65-16 - A. L. Tweed <br /> <br />No one spoke in regard to the petition. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Johsnon to approve the following ordinance on first reading, <br /> <br />was adopted, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"ZONING ~4ENDMENT ORDINANCE Z 65-16" <br /> <br />Petition Z 65-17 - John A M~cKenzie <br /> <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />Boulevard and Elmhurst Lane. <br /> <br /> John A. MacKenzie spoke, requesting that this petition be tabled. <br /> Motion of Mr. Knight to defer action, as requested, was adopted, <br /> <br />~USE PERMIT - GaSoline service station, southwest corner of Portsmouth <br /> <br /> John A. MacKenzie spoke, representing the o~mers, and requested approval of <br />the Planning Commission's recommendation. <br /> <br /> Motion of M~. Knight'to disapprove the application was adopted, without <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br />65-149 - Hearing on the 1965-66 Budget. <br /> <br />The City Manager preSented the following letter: <br /> <br /> "Budget estimates for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1965, are <br />submitted herewith in accordance with the requirements of the City COde. <br /> <br /> <br />
