381 May 12. 1998 ' At a Called Meeting of t~he C tY COunc on Tuesday, May 12, 1998~ there were present: *Mayor James W. Holley Ill, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Cameron C, Pitts, James T Martin, P~ Ward Rob nett, *J. Thomas Berm III, Deputy City Manager H. TimothY Little, citY Attorney G. TimOthy Oksman. 98-110 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City CounCil to be held in the City Manager'S Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p,m., Tuesday, May 12, 1998, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98-111 The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. TCC Visual Arts Center 2. Budget Follow-Up 3. Courtroom Update Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for discussion or consideration of the following: 1. Discussion of the performance of specific public officers, appointees or employees of the City, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1); and 2. Appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commisSions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knoWledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfullY exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and Only such public bus ness matters as were identified in the motion by whiCh the ExecutiVe Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
