<br />OF REMODELING A PIER AT PINNERS POINT"

<br /> 65-238 - Motion of ~. Barnes to remove from the table the item relative to 'exemption
<br />of sales tax on proscription drugs, was adopted.

<br /> Motion of Mr. Dillon thattthe City Attorney draw and present an ordinance exemption
<br />prescription drugs from sales tax effective January 1st, 1966, was adopted, and by the fo~llowing vote:

<br />65'-266 - The following communication from the Planning Director was read:
<br />
<br /> "At its regular meeting on October 5, 1965, the City Planning Commission
<br />resolved to recommend the following two street closures, subject to retention of such necessary utility
<br />easements as may be deemed necessary:
<br />
<br />S-65-5 Sixth Street between Madison Street and Bdwards Street.
<br />
<br /> S-65~6 Alley north from Deep Creek Boulevard between Columbus Avenue and
<br />Jefferson Street to a ditch easement off,Nashville Avenue."
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. Barnes to refer to-the City Attorney was adopted, without dissenting
<br />
<br />vote.

<br />65-267 - .The following communication from Harold B. Tiffany was read:
<br />
<br /> "I would appreciate it very much if you would place on your agenda~at the
<br />meeting of the Portsmnuth City Council on October 12, 1965, the ~Dplication filed by me on behRlf of
<br />Wilma R. Grimes and J. J. Edwards for rezoning Block K on Plat of blocks of West Grove as recorded in
<br />Map Book 16, page 4, in the Clerk's Office of the City of Chesapeake.
<br />
<br /> This petition was argued before the Council on January 5, 1965, at which
<br />time the Council tabled the matter and stated they wished to have a conference on the same.
<br />
<br /> It has now been nine months since our presentation before the Council, and
<br />we would like now to request that the Council grant our request for rezoning."

<br />Motion of b~. Barnes to suspend the rules to hear Harold Tiffany, was adopted, without

<br />Mr. Tiffany spoke regarding the ~Dplication.

<br /> Motion of Mr. Knight that the information submitted by Mr. Tiffany be received and
<br />that after receipt of the report on Turnpike Road, from the Planning Commlission, thia matter be taken
<br />from the table for consideration, no later than tile first reveler meeting of Council in November, was
<br />adopted, without dissenting vote.
