December 2B, 1965

65-552 - Report on audit of office of Clerk of Circuit Court for a period
July 10, 1964 through December 51, 1964, by Auditor of Public Accounts, was received.

On motion of Mr. Eastes, received as information.

65-553 - The following letter from Portsmouth Coast Guard Museum Board

were read:

"Bids were received 14 December for the second phase of establishing
the lightship on a permanent foundation in a concrete moat apparently moored to a conventional dock with
public utilities and a site finish-graded. Three bids were received, ranging from the low of $63,342~
submitted by W. F. Magann Corporation to the high of $89,888. Magann's alternate bid No. 1 for phase two,
less all but forty feet of dock and tower to weather deck was $58,$00. ~is alternate No. 2 bid for phase
two, less the wooden dock, tower and concrete moat but including creosoted pile foundation for the moaZ
was $42,858.
The Portsmouth Coast Guard Museum account currently should sh~w
as indicated on enclosure 1.
The low bid has been subject of discussion between members of the
board, Joe Glenn, our consulting engineer, and the low bidder. The concensus of the Board is that the
bid of M. ~. Magann C~rporation is reasonable and that nothing'may be gained by award of anything of less
than the total work for g65,342. Accordingly award of a contract to W. F. Magann in that Rmount for all
work specified is recommended.
An appropriation of $24,760 is requested accordingly to cover phase 2,
plus certain items as outlined on enclosure 1. Acceptance of prospective contractors proposal mustbe
before 12 January 1966. Bid bonds of B.'F. Diamond Construction Company and J. Carlton Hudson kay then be
returned with our ~ppreciation of their interest and effort expended in submitting their bids."

On motion of Mr. Barnes, referred to a conference of Council.

65-354 - Motion of Mr~ Barnes to go 'into the election of a member to the
Portsmouth Pert and Industrial Commission was adopted.

Mr. Barnes, nominated R.
