Frank Williams. <br /> <br />No one spoke in regard to the application. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson to concur in the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission to disapprove the application was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />Use Permit 65-9. <br /> <br />65-313 - Hearing on application of Tidewater Chris-Craft Company <br />The following resolution was read: <br /> <br /> "%~tEREAS, Tidewater Chris-Craft Company, <br />oursuant to Section 4-2 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, <br />hermit as hereinafter described; and <br /> <br />Inc., has filed an application <br />1961, for the granting of a use <br /> <br /> ~?~IEREAS, the applicant, the Planning Director, and the City Manager have <br />done all things required to be done in connection with said application, and the Planning Commission has <br />recommended the granting of said use permit. <br /> <br />NOg, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br /> <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the use for which the use permit hereinafter described is sought <br />(a) will not adversely affect the health or safety of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of <br />the proposed use, (b) will not be detrimental to the nublic welfare or injurious to property or improvements <br />in the neighborhood, and ~c) will be in accord with the purposes of said Zoning 0rdi~ance, <br /> <br />2. That the use permit hereinafter granted shall be subject to the following <br /> <br />conditions: <br /> <br /> a. That the use of the property shall be restricted to the sale of <br />new boats and pleasure craft. <br /> b. That display of boats for sale and storage of boags sold would <br />be either under cover of the roof of the building or in the wet slins of the adjacent marina. <br /> <br /> c. That the size and location of the building be restricted generally <br />to &lements of the site plan, as amended, floor plan and rendering submitted by the applicant to the Planning <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> d. That only one advertising sign shall be oermitted which sign shall <br />zanform generally to the elan submitted to the Planning Commission, shall not exceed an overall height of <br />twenty-five feet and an overall W~dth:o~:fi~e feet, and shall not utilize either neon tube lighting or <br />intermittent direct lighting. <br /> <br />e. That this permit shall not convey to the applicant the right <br /> <br />to renair or reconstruct boats. <br /> <br /> f. That only one hoist may be constructed by the applicant for the <br />cut. ese of lifting boats in and out of the water, <br /> <br /> S. That Tidewater Chris-Craft is hereby granted a use permit, pursuant <br />to Section 4-2 of said Zoning Ordinance, for the construction and oneration of a marina to be located on the <br />oremises at 10 Crawford Parkway." <br /> <br /> Alexander P, Grice snoke, stating that arrangements had been made to <br />relocate the building at the eastern end of the property. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes. the resolution was adopted with one amendment,- <br />the insertion of "as amended" after the words 'site plan' im paragraph [c) of Section 2, without dissenting <br />vote. <br /> <br />The following reports from the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 66-1 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed <br />on first reading. This appropriates $106,000 for the City's first payment on a cash contribution for the <br />Weaver Project. <br /> This is an initial payment of $534,000, which the City is <br />reouired to pay on the Weaver Pro}ect," <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was approved on <br /> <br />first reading, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $106,000.00 FROM TIlE <br />GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVE}lENT FUND FOR THE Ifl~AVER <br />REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT, VA. R-40" <br /> <br /> 66-2 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed <br />on first reading. This appropriates $7,000 for t~e purmose of updating the engineering and feasibility <br />study for the marine terminal. <br /> <br /> <br />
