June9-1998~ 393 At a Called Meeting of the City COuncil on Tuesday, June 9, 19987 there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, James T, Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., *J. Thomas Benn III, City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 98-133 The fOllowing call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City COuncil to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, 1998, for the purpose of a Public WOrk Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 98-134 The following item waS discussed in Public Work Sess on 1. Hoffler's Creek- Update Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia, for discussion or consideration of the following: . . t. Appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, ~as permitted by SubSectiOn (A)(1). The condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3), said property being in the Prentis Park and Prentis Place areas of the City; and 3. Briefings by staff pertaining to actual or probable litigation, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). Motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Martin, and ,seconded by Mr. Clemons, pursuant to Section 2,1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2, Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
