Not only are we concerned with the beauty of Collinswood, but we want to mak~ i~
a safe area. Our Civic League has appealed to Mr. R. Collins, of the ~estview Building Corporation, and
gotten no response. These are the reasons we are seeking your help.
One of our main concerns is the lake, located off City Park Avenue and
Lakeside Drive, which is ~arrently being built by Mr. Collins. Our ~ivic League President, Mr. Harry Battle,
asked Mr. Collins to consider fencing off the lake, It is a fifty foot immediate drop off. Need I say how
dangerous this will be to small children playing in that area. We feel that the fence will offer adequate
protection for our children while it will not take away from the beauty of ~he l~ke.
Our next concern is a weedy lot located off Cherokee Road and Chowan Road.
This is not only an eye sore but also a hazardous place that invites trouble. Mr. Collins ~ns a portion
of this p~operty and a salesman with a nearby used car lot owns the other portion. We feel that it is
their responsibility to clean up this area.
