<br /> 1. The grandstand roof was ~and blasted, top and bottom. Weak areas
<br />were completely removed and replaced with reinforced gunite concrete. The entire roof was recovered with
<br />emulsified asphalt reinforced with fiber glass.
<br />
<br /> 2. The cracked beams under the grandstand were reinforced md a steel
<br />pipe column, on a reinforced concrete base, was added to each end of the grandstand to relieve some of
<br />the stress on the existing column at th~ outside corner.
<br />
<br /> 5. The columns supporting the grandstand, baseball bleachers and football
<br />bleachers at expansion joints were repaired. All of the expansion are in the process of being cleaned
<br />preparatory to the installation of new, water tight, expansion joint materials.

<br /> 4. At a number, of locations throughout the stadium, rust on reinMorcing
<br />had caused spalling of the covering concrete. These locations were chipped out, sand blasted, and the
<br />concrete repaired with gunite.

<br />first reading. This appropriates $325,000 for the construction o~ a new City Garage a~d Public Works
<br />Buildings.
<br /> This covers ~he contract price of $285,967, plus $20,400 for excavation
<br />and fill and $16,850 for architectural fees.
<br /> It is necessary to construct these buildings, as the present buildings
<br />are being taken by the Weaver Urban Renewal Project. They are to be constructed on City owned land at
<br />the site of the new incinerator, and will consolidate our outside operationaldepartments."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Dillon, the following ordinance was approved on first
<br />reading, without dissenting vote:

<br />F. A. Duke Company to reduce the cost. We have eliminated $16,033 from the contract with some of ~he work,
<br />such as painting, to be done by City forces.
<br /> I recommend that the contract be awarded to F. A, Duke Company in the
<br />amount of $285,967."

<br /> . Motion of Mr. Knight that the City Manager be authorized to award the bid
<br />to F. A. Duke Company in the amount of $285,967.00 was adopted, without dissenting vote.
<br />
<br /> 66-150 - ,I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on first
<br />reading. This closes a portion of Loudoun Avenue between Race Street and Airline Boulevard.
<br /> This has been approved by the Planning Commission~a copy of the rpport
<br />of the viewers is attached hereto."

<br />Virginia by resolution adopted by said Council at its meeting held on May 10, 1966, the undersigned listed
<br />persons appointed as viewers for the purpose of ~etermining ~hat, if any, inconvenience would result from
<br />the vacation of a portion of Loudoun Avenue,:lying between the Northern right of way line of Race Street
<br />and the Southeastern right of way line of Airline BouleVard, as said street ~$ shown on the recorded plat
<br />of the subdivision of Virginia Realty and Investment Company (which nlat is recorded in the Clerk's O~fice
<br />of the Circuit CouMt of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in M~p Book~7, at pages 98 through 100), the
<br />undersigned respectfully report unto this honorable body as follows:

<br /> 1. That they have viewed the street in question and believe th~there
<br />would be no inconvenience to tha general public, nor to thqse property owners in the immediate area, by
<br />the vacation of the said street.
