June 23. 1998 <br /> <br />PURPOSE AND NEED: <br /> <br />· Amendments include revisions to certain definitions regarding food <br /> establishments and violations of the article. <br /> <br />Uniformity in the administration of local food and beverage tax <br />throughout Ham pton Roads. <br /> <br />By adopting uniform policies, procedures, ordinances and guidelines, <br />the area cities can demonstrate regional cooperation that will prove to <br />be beneficial to the business community. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the <br />following ordinance and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 35 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING ARTICLE X THEREOF <br />PERTAINING TO THE RESTAURANT FOOD TAX." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-148 Adoption of a resolution approving Amendment No. 29 to the <br /> Crawford Conservation and Redevelopment Plan, designating an <br /> additional property as "To Be Acquired." <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution approving Amendment No. 29 to the Crawford <br />Conservation and Redevelopment Plan, designating an additional <br />property as "To Be Acquired." <br /> <br />PURPOSE AND NEED: <br /> <br />In 1997, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />acquired air rights for development of property behind the Signet Bank <br />Building. <br /> <br />During the process of developing various aspects of the <br />hotel/conference center, it was determined that PRHA actually needs to <br />have fee simple ownership of this property. An offer has been made by <br />PRHA to the owners of the property. <br /> <br />If the negotiations are not successful, it will be necessary for PRHA to <br />acquire the property through eminent domain. Regardless of whether <br />eminent domain becomes necessary, the Crawford Plan should be <br />amended to designate the property as "To Be Acquired." <br /> <br />FINANCIAL iMP~ACT: <br /> <br />· The necessary funds for acquisition are already in place. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt the <br />following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 29 TO THE <br />CRAWFORD CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE <br />CRAWFORD URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT. <br /> <br /> <br />
