35' <br /> <br />September 15, 1966 <br /> <br /> Moiion of Mr. Eastes %o refer to the City Manager for information as to what can <br />be done to correct the condition, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />66-166 - The following letter from the Director of Planning was read: <br /> <br /> "At its regular monthly meeting on September 6, 1966, the City Planning <br />Commission resolved to recommend the following street name change: <br /> <br /> That Dinwlddie Street south of the Downtown Elizabeth RiVer Tunnell <br />be dropped in favor of the northerly extension in name of Fifth Street <br />from Harrison Street to Clifford Street. <br /> <br /> This recommendation was arrived at only after consultation with <br />various municipal officials including the Fire Chief and the Police Chief." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson that the matter be referred to the City Attorney for proper <br />o~dinance, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />66-168 - The following letter from Mrs. M. L. Campbell of 61 Grove Stmeet was read: <br /> <br /> '7o have a five cents imcrease in public transportation is not bad at all, but <br />the system you have to pay it to is very po~r, or should I say, even worse. Here you will find a <br />bus time table which ~s not true at all. I know because ~ use the bus for transportation as~I have <br />no other. You try waiting for one some time and you wilt see exactly what I am referring to. This <br />time table is about 3 years old. The whole town could change in 5 years. I am not complaining about <br />the five cents. Just the service." <br /> <br /> 66-169 - The Mayor reported on Portsmouth's representation at the Sister City program in <br />Washington, D. C. The display by Portsmouth was one of the most attractive And impressive demonstrations <br />given. <br /> <br /> 66-170 - The question of dogs running at large was on motion of Mr. Eastes, referred to a <br />conference of Council. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Knight that Mrs. Campbell be adg~sed of the attention that has been given <br />this matter by the City Manager, was adepte~, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
