<br /> 66-164 - The following ordinance, approved on first readingat last meeting, was
<br />taken up and read:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSH~UTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY ADDING
<br />THERETO NINE NEW SECTIONS NU~.IBERED 1SA-7 TO ISA-IS, INCLUSIVE, CREATING THE
<br />PORTSP.~UTH LAW LIBRARY BOARD,:.PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AND PRESCRIBING
<br />THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF AND TH~ OATH TO BE TAKEN BY THE MEMBERS OF ~ID BOARD,
<br />PROVIDING FOR THE FILLING OF ~ACANC1ES ON SAID BOARD, FOR THE COMPENSATION OF

<br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> 66-/%~- The following resignation of Leo V. Schocklin from the Portsmouth Minimum
<br />Housing Board, was read:
<br />
<br /> "It has been an honor and great pleasure to serve as a member of the ~inimum
<br />Housing Board, particularly as chairman of this board for the past five (5) years. During
<br />~is time, we have seen progress for the city by a new and stronger Housing Code and a
<br />Commercial Code.
<br />
<br /> I wish to express my sincere thanks for the fine co-operation extended to me by
<br />Council and heads of departments.
<br />
<br />[ hereby submit my resignation from the Board of Minimum Housing, effective immediately."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to accept the resignation with regrets and that Mr. Schocklin be
<br />thanked for his services, was adopted, without dissenting vote.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to go into the election of a member to the Portsmouth Redevelopment
<br />and Housing Authority to fill the unexpired term of J. Newton Max~y, was adopted, without
<br />dissenting vote.
<br />
<br />Mr. Barnes nominated Leo V. Schocklln.
<br />
<br />On motion of N~r. Eastes, nominations were closed.
<br />
<br /> Vote being taken, Mr. Schocklin was unanimously elected to the Portsmouth Redevelopment
<br />and Housing Authority, for a term expiring September 11, 1968.
