<br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on December 27, 1966, there were present:
<br />
<br /> R. Irvine~Smith, Jack P. Barnes, George D. Bastes, Burrell R. Johnson, Isaac W. King,
<br /> L. L. Knight, W. T. Leafy, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, and M. A. Korb, Jr.,
<br /> City Attorney.

<br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Donald Sheffield, pastor, Green Lakes Baptist
<br />Church,
<br />
<br />The following reports from the City Manager were read:
<br />
<br /> 66-306 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on first reading.
<br />This appropriates $106,700 for the Weaver Urban Renewal Pro,oct.
<br /> This is the second installment of the City's cash contribution on this project
<br />and is due in January.
<br /> There will be one additional payment due in 1968.,
<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes, the following ordinmnce was approved on firstreading, without
<br />dissenting vote:
<br />
<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $106,700.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT F~qD FOR THE
<br />CITY'S SHARE OF THE COST OF THE WEAVER REDEVELOPmeNT PROJECT" ,
<br />
<br /> 66-507 - "I submi~ the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed onffirst reading.
<br />This appropriates $5,500 for the purchase of a plot of land that juts into the Obici property
<br />which was recently purchased by-the City.
<br /> We feel that it is necessary to acquire this acreage in order to consolidate our
<br />holdings in this area."
<br />
<br /> OB motion of Mr. Barnes, the following ordinmnce was approved on first reading, without
<br />dissenting vote:

<br />This pppropriates $16,640 for the purchase of property at'155 Carolina Avenue and 180, 184, ~
<br />186 Pinners Avenue.
<br /> This property is being acquired in cmnjunction with the development of the
<br />Pinners Point Marine Terminal."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Knight, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without
<br />dissenting vote:

<br />PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT 1SS CAROLINR AVENUE AND 180, 184 and 186 PINNERS AVENUE IN PINNERS POINT"

<br />This closes a portion of Carey Circle in the Cavalier Manor Area.
<br /> The closing has b,een recommended by the Planning Commission."

<br /> 66.310 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on first reading.
<br />This closes a portion of Eisenhower Circle in the Cavalier Manor Area.
<br /> This closing has been recomm, end~d by the Planning Commission."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Leafy, the following ordinance, was approved on first reading, without
<br />dissenting vote:

<br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION 0E EISES~OWER CIRCLE"
<br />
<br /> 66-511 - "I am i~ receipt of the attache~ letter from the American Iron and Metal Company
<br />outlining what they will do to improve the site of their salvage operation of Belt Line property
<br />adjacent to }{arbor Drive.
<br /> Subject to their complying with the stipulations as outlined in their letter,
<br />I reeommend that the use permit be continued."

<br /> "WiI~ ~Hce to the salvage yard of American Iron 5 Metal Co. located on Belt Line
<br />Property adjacent to Harbor Drive, I,Joseph Jacobson, owner of American Iron & Metal Co.,
<br />state the following:
<br /> A. As to landscaping, I will landscape the entire view on the Righway side so as to
<br />beautify and make attractive that particular part that may be viewed by persons coming along
<br />the highway. I have contacted a nurseryman ~nd landscaper and am going to proceed at once
<br />without delay.
