Ottavio, ~'~ <br /> ~l~y Auditor. <br /> <br />The meeting was onened with prayer by Rev. Pobert L. Pleasants. <br /> <br />The Mayor presented ~iss Portsmouth 1967, <br /> <br />~4inutes of the regular meeting of March 14, 1967 were read and aporoved. <br />The zo~Iowlng re~oorts from the City ~,~anager were read: <br /> <br /> 67-700~- "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on first reading. <br /> This appropriates $S0,000 for the construction of sewers in Southda!e and East <br />Sou.ndale. These funds are to come from the proposed bond issue." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Leary, the ~o!lowing ordinance was apuroved on first reading, without dissenting <br />vote: <br /> "½~ ORDIN;~,~CE TO APPROPRL~TE SS0,000.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVE~ENT FDND FOR THE <br /> CONSTRUCTION OF S;~NITARY SEYfERS IN SOUTHDALE ~MD EAST SOUTF, DALE AREAS. ~ <br /> <br /> 67-7I - "Bids were opened on [4arch 16, 1967, for the construction of sewers in Southdale and <br />East So~thdale. The follcwin~_ bids were received: <br /> A. G, Pinkston Company $45,053.41 <br /> Vico Construction Corporation $47,569.45 <br /> R. L; ~'3hitfield Co., Inc. $57,771.20 <br /> A. Stuart Bolling Co,, Inc. $57,807.80 <br /> J. A. S, Builders, Inc. $58,117.40 <br /> A. G. Pinks~on Company being the low bidder, I recom~eni~ thht the con~ct be awarded this <br /> <br />company," <br /> <br /> ~otion of F~r. Leafy to concur in the recommendation of the City ~an~ger was adonted, without <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 67-72 - "I submit thetattaehed ordinance and recommend that it be olaced on first reading. This <br />appropriates $10,360 for the purchase of property in Pinners Point as f~llows: <br /> <br />233 Carolina Avenue <br />142 Seaboard Avenue <br />Lots 190 ahd 191Pinners Avenue <br /> <br />The property is to be used in conjunction with the deve!ooment of the b~arine Terminal." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was anoroved on first reading, without dissenting <br />vote: <br /> <br />"7%N ORDINJJ'~CE TO APPROPRIATE $10,360.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVE~{ENT FUND FOR THE PURCHASE <br />OF 235 CAROLINA AVENUE ;~ND 142 SEABOARD AVENUE A~MD LOTS 190 B=ND 191 ON PINNERS AVENUE IN PINNERS <br />POINT" <br /> <br /> 67-73 - "i submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be ulaced on first reading. <br /> This will allow the City Clerk to advertise for public he~rines without having <br />formal approval from the City Council. It will speed up the processing of zoning applications <br />from two weeks to a month." <br /> <br /> On motion of ,-L. K,ng,. the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without dissenting <br />vote: <br /> <br />"~ ORDINal{CE TO AMEND SECTION 2-45 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF pOPTRMO)~U <br /> ........... , VIRGINIA, 1961, <br />PERTAINING TO THE DLrfiES OF THE CITY CLERK," <br /> <br /> 67-74 - "At the last meeting of the City Counci!) a letter from the Grove Park Garden Club <br />concerning the violation of "Corner visibility" under the Zoning Ordinance was referred to the City <br />Manager. <br /> An inspection was made by the Zoning Inspector and five violations of the ordinance <br />were found. The property owners were notified to correct these conditions. <br />Since last sum~er, fifteen violations have been found and corrected in the Grove <br />Park area, and the Zoning Inspector is continuing to check these violations in the entire City." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Knight, received as information. <br /> <br /> 67-75 - "The Plarming Co~mission has recommended, by letter to the City Council at a previous <br />meeting, the adoption of a Table of Uses for a C-3 Zoning District, <br /> This was referred to the City Attorney for review and no~ it is necessary that a public <br />hearing be held. <br /> I recommend that the hearing be held at the meeting of April 25, 1967." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Eastes to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, without <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
