May 23, 1967 67-155 - The following letter from the City Clerk was read: "The terms of office of the following members of the Board of Electrical Examiners have expired: Sherman Askew D. O. Hawkins B. C. Moring" Motion of Mr. Barnes to go into the election of members to the Board of Electrical Examiners was adopted. On motion of Mr. Knight the following were elected to the Board, for the following snecified terms: Leroy Green for a term expiring 3/1/68 Sherman Askew for a term expiring 5/1/69 D. O. Hawkins for a term expiring 5/1/70 B. C. Moring for a term expiring 3/1/71 B. S. Trant 67-154 - The following letter from the Portsmouth Coast Guard ~seum ~as read: '%t the present time the Board of Directors of Portsmouth Coast Guard Museum, Inc. consists of 9 persons under the charter issued by the State Corpqration Commission. Due to the amount of work involved in operating this Museum and the scope thereof, the present Board of Directors feels that there should be additional members on the Board so that more use of committees can be employed and that the meetings of the Board of Directors will not have to be so frequent and of such lengZh. Our meetings under the charter are scheduled monthly but they have been frequently held on a weekly basis and at the present time are on a semi-monthly basis, t~e are therefore requesting that the charter be amended to increase the membership of the Board of Directors from 9 to 15 members. We would appreciate favorable action in this regard." On motion of Mr. Barnes, referred to a .conference. 67-155 - The following letter from John T. Nix was read: "I herewith submit my resignation as a member of the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission effective as soon as it can be acted upon. I wish ~o tRke this opportunity to thank each of you for the complete cooperation extended the other Commissioners and mys¢ll over the past and to say that it has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you as one of your Commissioners these many years." Motion of Mr. King that a resolution of appreciation without dissenting vote, the resignation be accepted with regret that the City Attorney prepare for Mr. Nix's services with the Portsmouth Port Commission, was adopted, 67-156 - On motion of Mr. Smith, rules were suspended to hear ~4r. Ben Haddon, Chairman of Portsmouth - Dunedin Civic Understanding Commission. Mr. Haddon expressed his app~reciation and that of the Junior ~oman's Club for the City's cooperation in ~he construction of the Fri~ndship Zoo. The Council expressed gratitude to the Junior ~oman's Club for undertaking this project. 67-157 - The following letter from Miss Kathy Oliver, "Miss Portsmouth" was read: "Thank you so much for inviting me to the Council meeting. I 'want to again express my appreciation for being recogl3ized as the official City Hostess. f intend to represent the City with dignity and hope that you and the Council members will call on me for any service I might render." On motion of Mr. Knight, the letter was received as information, and the Clerk was requested to acknowledge same. 67-158 - The following letter from ~he Council of Parent Teachers Association was read, and on motion of Mr. Johnson, received as informmtion: "The Council wished to express their deepest thanks for the use of the Council Chambers for our Council Meetings of this past year. It is comforting to know that the city is interested in the small matters that concern our educational program." 67-159 - Motion of Mr. Johnson that a study be made of the reprinting of the zoning code, and that it be prepared in loose-leaf form, was adopted, without disseiting vote. 67-160 - Motion of Mr. Johnson that an attorney from the City Attorney's office be present at all meetings of Planning Commission, for legal advice, was referred to a conference for study, without dissenting vote. 67-161 - Motion of Mr. Johnson that the name of the Recreation AdVisory Board be changed to 'Recreation Commission' was referred to a conference, without disse~ing vote.
