<br /> 67-236 - The following letter from theSuperintendent of Schools, Dr. M. E, Alford, was read:

<br /> '~he School Board requests an appropriation of $32~684 to purchase three (S) portable classroom
<br />%its. ~h~ to~li~rch~e, pr~c~ of~t~e three units including foundations and furnishings is $58,054.
<br /> ne remaining ~,~bo wil£ De ae~ived ~rom insurance oayments covering the portable unit destroyed
<br />by the recent fire at S. H. Clarke JuniOr Nigh School, One of these new units will be used to
<br />replace. . the portable, unit. at Clarke, and the other two will be held in reserve for the purpose of
<br />rellevzng overcrowding mn the f~rst grades. It appears that one or both units may be needed to house
<br />children ~Qving into the new ~est park Momes adjacent to Hodges Manor. Purthermore, it may
<br />be necessary to request funds f6r additional portable units to relieve overcrowding at the
<br />Shea Terrace school, '
<br /> Park Vlew, IPort Norfolk and James Hurst. However, the School Board prefers
<br />to delay the request for these additional portable Classrooms until after opening school in
<br />September."
