/,"22 July 28, 1998 <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-178 Adoption of an ordinance appropriating $105,601 in the City's Capital <br /> Improvement Fund for use by the schools for improvements and <br /> renovations of school buildings and appropriating $1,110,476 in the <br /> school operating fund due to increased State funding which was not- <br /> known at the time of adoption of the FY 1999 budget. <br /> <br />Recommendatio_ n: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance appropriating $105,601 in the City's Capital <br />Improvement Fund for use by the schools for improvements and <br />renovations of school buildings and appropriating $1,110,476 in the <br />School 0 perating Fund. <br /> <br />~Need: <br /> <br />· The schools have remitted $105,601 back to the City as unexpended funds <br /> arising out of the FY 1997 School Operating Budget. <br /> <br />Per City Council authorization, unspent funds may be re-appropriated. <br />These funds will be designated for the schools' capital improvement and <br />renovation projects. <br /> <br />The General Assembly final budget adoption provided increased funding <br />for the K-3 program. Therefore, $317,443 needs to be appropriated in the <br />School Operating Fund for this purpose. <br /> <br />In addition, the General Assembly has provided $793,033 in school <br />construction funds under the newly adopted school construction program <br />which are required to be appropriated in the Schools Operating Fund. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The $105,601 and $1,110,476 provides a total of $1,216, D77 in additional <br /> funding for the schools. <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact on the City budget. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $105,601 IN THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT <br />PROJECTS AND $1,110,476 IN THE SCHOOL OPERATING FUND." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-179 Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $194,820 of Program Income <br /> for the HOME Program to be used for eligible activities for those at <br /> risk of becoming homeless, <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $194,820 of Program Income for <br /> HOME Prog ram eligible activities. <br /> <br /> <br />
