October 10, 1967 67-$05 -.Assistant City Manager, Carroll Mason, presented the annual report of the Planning Commission, which was, on motion of Mr. Knight, rece~¥ed as information. On motion adjourned. APPROVED - President City Clerk October 24, 1967 At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on October 24, 1967, therewere present: R. Irvine Smith, George D. Eastes, Burrell R. Johnson, Isaac W. King, ~. T. Leafy, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager,% M. A. Ko~h, Jr., City Attorney, R. D. 0ttavio, City Auditor. The meeting was opened with prayer By Dr..H, S. Hardcastle, of the Congregational Christian Church. 67-504 - A resolution adopted By the C/ty Council of Elizabeth City, N. C., commending the Portsmouth Fire Department for their val~51e Help to that City at the time of a disastrous fire, was presented by the City Manager of Ellfa~etH City, and in turn, presented to Chief Benton of the Portsmouth Fire Department by Mayor Smith. 67-305 - An award from the United States.Post Office Department - a public service award in recognition of t~e outstanding efforts of the Planning Department and printing d6p~c~nent,:o~ Portsmouth in preparation of the zip code map, was presented by Mayor Smith to Mr. Dozier and Mr. Preziotti. The following reports from the City Manager were read: 67-306 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. This appropriates $9,500,00 for the purchase of p~operty'in Pinners P6~nt; to be used in connection with the new Marine Terminal. The property is as follows: Lots 145 and 146 - Carolina Avenue; 111 Pinners Avenue; and 170 Carolina Avenue." On motion of Mr. Johnson, thefollowing ordinance was approved on first reading, without dissenting vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $9,500.00 FROM T~ GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR rHE PURCHASE OF LOTS 145 AND I~ ON CAROLINA AVENUE, Ill PINNERS AVENUE AND 170 CAROLINA AVENUE IN PINNERS POINT."
