November 14, 1967 <br /> <br /> 67-536 - The following letter from the American Association of University [fomen, 5{rs. Lloyd <br />Dobyns, President, was read, and on motion of Mr. Leafy, received as information: <br /> <br /> "The Portsmouth Branch of the American Association of University Women has a continuing <br />interest in education at the community and state level. In cooperation with Portsmouth, school <br />officials, a successful kindergarten workshop was held last winter. From this workshop, <br />fifty kindergarten teachers were recruited and are no~¢ being trained. <br /> However, available and qualified ~ihdergarten '~eacher~ are only a beginning to a successful <br />kindergarten prograra. We urge your cooperation in securing the necessary financial sunnort <br />for this phase of education, an integral Dart being sufficient classroom space and the~ ~roper <br />equipment. <br /> The American Association of University Women is vitally concerned that our children will be <br />deprived of this important year in their education un~ess all of us assume our proper responsibility <br />for the success of this' program." <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />On motion of~{r. Knight, received as information. <br /> <br /> I could not get, however, an estimate of the time needed to complete the review. The <br />office here still has no,additional information on the application to recertify the Portsmouth Work <br />Program, and action on that application will have to be complete before a decision can be <br />announced on the Crawford Common applicaiton. <br /> I have no reason to believe that the expiration of the workable program certification has <br />allowed work in the process on the other application which, by the way, is project number <br /> It was a pleasure to see you Monday and I hope we soon receive some good.news on the Crawford <br />Common project." <br /> <br /> <br />
