67-553 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. This
changes County Street between Washington and Crawf0rd Streets to a two-way street. This is
necessary due to the construction of the new parking facility between Country~ and King Streets and
the closing of ,~{iddle Street. This will create better access to the parking lot. Circulation in
the downtown area will be greatly imp~uved and nothing will suffer from this change. Washington Street
was chosen as dividing line between 'the one-way and two-way segments, because during peak
hours, there are 200 vehicles per hour less on County Street, east of ~ttashington Street, than
there are west of Washington Street. This difference in traffic volumes is very significant, as
most of County Street west of Washington Street, is only 36 feet wide, and will acco~tmodate at
maximum only three lanes."
