<br /> Motion of Mr. Leary to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission to deny the
<br />application was adopted, without dissenting vote.

<br />The following reports from the City Manager were read:

<br /> 68-18 - "I submit the attached ordinance and reconmend it be placed on first reading. This
<br />appropriates $18,454.99 to lend to the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission.
<br /> These funds are to cover invoices received by the Commission for the crane,
<br />warehouses and other expenses in the construction of the Marine Terminal.
<br /> The City will probably be reimbursed this week for the funds that have been loaned
<br />to the Commission."

<br /> On motion of blt. King, the following ordinance was approved on first reading without dissenting

<br />appropriates $5,400.00 for the purchase of property at 200 Carolina Avenue.

<br />what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the aforedescribed portion of said street,
<br />beg to report that they have viewed the said street and, in their open,on, no inconvenience would
<br />result from its vacation and closing."

<br />closes portions of Clifford and Griffin Streets.
<br /> The closing has been requested by Construction Associates in order that Smith
<br />and Melton, Grants and Hofheimers stores can be expanded at MidCity.
<br /> The Planfiing Commission has approved the closing and a report of the viewers is
<br />attached hereto."

<br />aforedescribed portion of said street, beg to report that they have viewed the said street and,
<br />in their opinion, no inconve~iL~nce would result from its vacation and closing."
