their parents, and the alumni of Frederick College, now therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, that the Chesapeake Chamber of Commerce of Chesapeake endorses any plan to insure <br />that Frederick College continues in operation for. at least such a period of time to insure the orderly <br />phasing-out of the eh!ire College 'operation, and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of thi~ resOlution be forwarded to the Honorable Hills Godwin, <br />Governor of Virginia, to the State Council on Higher Education, to the Honorable Justice Lawrence W. <br />I'Anson and to other interested parties." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson that !the resolution and plan ~resented by Dean Hulbert be received, that <br />copies be sent to all members of the Council, and that a c~nference be held on the matter, was adopted, <br />without dissenting vote. - <br /> <br /> 68-95 - Mr. Eastes stated that the Council had ~assed the lmnd use plan, as recommended by the <br />Churchland Area Citizens Committee~ and that the Committee should be co~mended for the good work it has <br />done, in which other members of th~ Council concurred. <br /> <br /> 68-94 - Motion of Hr. ~arne$ that the Council request the Planning Commission to s~udy the entire <br />land use plan, for the entire City~ and that the Council meet with the Planning Commission as soon as <br />possible to look at our potential ~or industrial and commercial growth, was adopted, without dissenting <br />vote. <br /> <br /> 68-94.1 - ~{r. Johnson called attention to a motion he had made oreviouMy, regarding commercial <br />signs, and asked that the City Man~ger bring this to the attention of ~e Dlanning Cp~ission, asking <br />for a study of the matt~. <br /> <br /> 68-95 - Motion of 5~r. Smith that the Council ask for an opinion from J. Stanley Livesay, the <br />City's annexation attorney, on the City's obligation regarding furnishing school bus transpor~A~gon. <br /> <br /> Mr. Johnson called for point of order, stating that an opinion had been given previously <br />by Attorney Livesay on another occasion. <br /> <br />The original motion was lost, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith <br />Nays: Barnes, East,s, Johnson, King, Leary <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
