<br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on May 14, 1968, there were present:
<br />
<br />R. Irvine Smith, Jack P. Barnes, George' D. Eastes, Burrell R. Johnson, Isaac W. King, L. L. Knight,
<br />W, T. Leafy, A. P. Johnson, Jr., City ~{anager, M. A. Korb, Jr., City Attorney, and R. D. Ottavio,
<br />City Auditor.

<br /> ~inutes of regular meeting held on April 23, 1968 were read and approved.
<br />
<br /> 68-150.1 - The following hearing on zoning changes were held:
<br />
<br /> ~? 68-5/- Cities SerVice Oil Company, 2544 Churchland Blvd.
<br />
<br /> On motion of ~{r. Johnson, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved, and the following
<br />resolution was adopted: ~
<br />
<br />"A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PEP~4IT FOR ~{E OPERATION OF AN AUTOMOTTVE SERVICE STATION
<br />AT 2344 CHURCHL~ND BOULEVARD ~
<br />
<br /> ~.~EREAS, Cities Service Corporation has filed an application nursuant to Section 4-2 of the Zoning
<br /> Ordinance of the City ~f PortsmoUth, 1961, for the granting of a U~e Permit as hereinafter described; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the applicant, the Planning Director and the City ~{anager have done all things required to be
<br />done in connection with said application, and the Planning Commission has recommended the granting of said
<br />use permit, subject to the conditions hereinafter stated.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br /> A. That the use for which the use permit hereinafter described is sought [1) will not adversely affect
<br /> the health or safety of persons residing or working in neighborhood of the Droposed use,
<br /> [2) will not be deterimental to the Dublic welfare or injurious to nrooerty~ or improvements~in the
<br /> neighborhood and (3) will be in accord with theppn~oses of said Zo~in~ Ordinance.

<br /> B. That Cities Service Corporation, is hereby granted a use permit, pursuant to Section 4-2 of said
<br /> Zoning Ordinance, for the construction and operation of an mltomotive service station to be located
<br /> on the property described as follows: Beginning at the northeast corner of Churchland Boulevard
<br /> and the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad track; thence southeast along Churchland Boulevard 200 feet;
<br /> thence south along said track 152 feet to the point of origin."

<br /> UP 68-12 - Bon Vivant Realty Co. by Jeffferson B. Drown, Hamilton Avenue and Queen S~reet.
<br />
<br /> AZ~6M~y Brown spoke for the application and requested that it be referred back to the Planning
<br />Commission.
<br />
<br /> ~{otion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the request of the apmlicant to refer back to the Planning Commission
<br />was adopted, without dissenting vote. ~

<br />UP 68-13 - L. R, Whitlow - Automotive Service Station, Alexander's Corner.
<br />Attorney Robert Babb spoke for the application.

<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the following
<br />resolution was adopted:

<br />described as follows: Beginning at the southwest corner of Turnpike Road and Portsmouth ~ou~evard;
<br />thence southwest along Portsmouth Boulevard approximately 140 fe~t; thence southeast approximately
<br />150 feet; thence northeast approximately 140 feet; thence northwest approximately 125 feet to the
<br />point of origin."

<br /> 68-151-a - "I submit hereiwith a resolution approving the conservation plan and the feasibility of re-
<br />location for the Olde Towne Conservation project. Also submitted herewith i~ the co-operation agreement
<br />which it is necessary to execute in connection with this p~oject.
<br />
<br /> I recommend the adoption of the mesolution and that the oroper city offcials be authorized to sign the
<br />co-operation agreement;" ~
